General TNI (Ret.) Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is the sixth president of the Republic of Indonesia. Unlike previous presidents, Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is the first president to be directly elected by the people in the Presidential Election process on September 20, 2004. The best graduate of AKABRI (1973) who is familiarly called Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was born in Pacitan, East Java, September 9, 1949. Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is the only child of the couple R. Soekotjo and Sitti Habibah. The blood of soldiers is passed down from his father who retired as a First Lieutenant. While his mother, Sitti Habibah is the daughter of one of the founders of the Tremas Islamic Boarding School.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono successfully brought Indonesia to the international stage through several global forums. One of these was the World Culture Forum . Its official opening took place at the Bali International Convention Center in Nusa Dua in 2013. The forum aimed to recognize cultural differences worldwide and to highlight their importance in human development.
During his leadership from 2004 to 2014, he succeeded in bringing Indonesia to the international forum arena. He discussed many things, including culture and peace. Evidence of Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s major role in world peace is Indonesia’s participation in Peacekeeping Operations (OPP) by sending the Garuda Contingent XXIII-A to join the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). Then, together with members of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), Indonesia condemned Israel in Palestine and Lebanon. Supported UN Security Council Resolution Number 1701 which ordered a ceasefire between the two parties. In addition, Indonesia participated in the United Nations Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the United Nations Mission in Liberia, the United Nations Mission in Sudan, the United Nations Mission in Georgia, the United Nations Mission in Nepal, and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon. Finally, in 2007, Indonesia served as President of the UN Security Council. He is the only head of state to serve as a UN peacekeeper. In this regard, on March 20, 2012, UN President Ban Ki-moon personally presented the iconic blue helmets of UN peacekeepers. Thanks to the responsiveness and direction of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Indonesia is recognized as a nation that prioritizes world peace, and he is also known as the Father of Peace.
